Congratulations to education workers: NDP

QUEEN’S PARK — NDP Education critic Chandra Pasma issued the following statement in response to news that Ontario’s lowest-paid education workers have voted to ratify their collective agreement:
“Congratulations to education workers for ratifying their first freely negotiated collective agreement in a decade. The workers who care for and support our children in schools have always deserved a decent wage and fair working conditions, and it’s clear they will continue fighting for a healthy and supportive environment for students despite a government that’s resistant to investing properly in our schools.

From day one, Doug Ford and Stephen Lecce have had the power to prevent disruption in our schools, but they instead chose to bully the people who clean our classrooms, care for our youngest students and support kids with disabilities.

I share in parents’ relief that our kids will remain in school with the ongoing support of these hardworking, dedicated education workers.

The NDP will continue to hold the Ford government accountable for investing in education so that our kids have every support they need in the classroom.”
